For a show that was kind of going off the deep end with its fourth season, True Blood definitely had a strong start last week. Last time, we were left wondering what would happen to Tara - whether she'd miraculously survive, or be turned into a vampire, or exit the show entirely. We got our answer, though it's incomplete. What happens if Tara is messed up just like Bubba in the Sookie Stackhouse books?
(And why is Bubba not even in the show? C'mon!)

I believe it would be a disservice to Tara as a character to not only turn her into a vampire (something we all know she'd hate), but make her slow/simple. Tara also had a "most selfless act" moment by jumping in to protect Sookie, so I guess I could see why she's so upset straight out of the grave. My biggest hope is that we won't have to wait all that long to know what really happened with her.
The rest of the episode kind of went how I expected it to. Eric and Bill are all buddy-buddy now since they need each other to survive, and Eric is presumably upset over being rejected. That's what I'd like to believe, anyway. I'm going to assume that we're supposed to feel angry or something about his reunion with his vampire "sister" Nora, but since Eric and Sookie are technically not together, it isn't out of Eric's character to sleep around as he pleases.
Sookie almost told Alcide about what happened in the kitchen, and it's a pretty major plot point in the books when she does actually tell him, so I am going to assume it'll be a plot point during this season as well. Then again, I know that the HBO adaptation has deviated greatly from the book storyline, but if they broach the subject I tend to assume it'll more or less follow its original logic.
Russell is on the loose, and I assume he's the one who ambushes Eric and company. I guess we'll see more on that next week, too. It kind of stinks that Alcide's call came a little too late, but it's probably good for his character that he warned Eric. Now what I'm wondering is, how much are Bill and Eric thinking of Sookie as they're dragged away in a whole new adventure? Survival first, of course, but besides that, ya know?
[I'm not even going to touch Jason and Jessica. Jason's story lines never cease to amaze me (for better or worse), and I read somewhere that he (he as in his actor) thinks his character is going to get the worst beating this season out of everyone. I believe it, just after seeing a few quick things this one episode. Jessica is the same as ever, and on a completely unrelated note, I'm glad to see that Andy's been hitting the gym!]
